Maurice Tamman is a staff writer on the investigative/special projects team
at the Herald Tribune. He developed the concept and managed the development of IBISEYE.com, a hurricane tracking and analysis Web site. He handles most of the newspapers in-depth data analysis. He has been doing Web development since 1994 when he created a newsmait.com, one of the first newspaper-related blog (though it wasn’t called a blog in those days.) Primarily develops in .NET and SQL Server but has worked in PERL and MYSQL. Also uses ARCVIEW for spatial data analysis.
Before coming to Sarasota, he was reporter on the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s special projects team, leading the newspaper’s census coverage and analysis. He handles the data analysis for several major projects and worked on the post-9/11 terror team. He previously worked for Florida Today in Melbourne, Fla., and the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J.
