Robert Hanson
CIO,
Sarasota County Govt/Sarasota County Schools
|
Bob Hanson is Chief Information Officer for Sarasota County Government and Sarasota County Schools and was named one of the 25 most influential people in Government IT by Government Technology magazine in 2005.
In 2004, the Center for Digital Government ranked Sarasota County the second best municipal government in the nation in using technology to serve citizens. In the CIO post since 2001, Hanson is credited with transforming the county’s information technology team into a highly professional and productive resource for enterprise clients, as well as re-engineering systems, equipment and processes.
In 2004, Hanson was named CIO of Sarasota County public schools in addition to his role with county government. Hanson led the county’s efforts to establish an interlocal agreement to provide IT service to the school district, a move to save taxpayers money and improve the delivery of technology in area schools.
Before entering public service, Hanson provided IT consulting and project management to a variety of multi-national clients. Hanson led teams replacing the entire computing infrastructure and supply chain applications for Dow Chemical Co. and Petroleos de Mexico (PEMEX). He also integrated financial applications for Chrysler and Daimler Benz when those companies merged.
Hanson is a member of 82 Degrees Tech, CIO Executive Council; the Gartner Groups Executive Program, Public Technology Inc. and the Innovation Groups. He is a graduate of Northern Michigan University.
